Visitor Centre Update – Summer 2026

April 7, 2026

Spring has sprung here on Islay. The daffodils have already come and gone, thanks to some recent 60mph winds. The geese are lifting off in formation, beginning their long journeys back toward the Arctic Circle. Our sunrises, once drab and cloud‑laden, are now returning in full colour.

The weather has been as dramatic as ever: hail, sleet, gale‑force gusts and sudden bursts of sunshine, all within the space of twenty minutes.

At Kilchoman, the arrival of spring means more than longer days and the return of whisky lovers from around the world. It marks the beginning of our barley season, the foundation of everything we do.

Recent rains have left much of our arable land well soaked, but in just a few weeks, the fields will have drained, and we’ll be ready to plant this year’s crop. Keep an eye on our social channels for farm updates throughout 2026.

Meanwhile, our visitor centre, and our bee hives, are already buzzing. Our café team baked more cakes in March than any March previous, and our newly refreshed bookable experiences are filling up rapidly. This year, we’ve reimagined our offerings to showcase the very best of Rockside Farm.

For the first time in our history, we’re introducing a Warehouse Tasting, running at 11:15 from Sunday to Thursday. Guests will draw whisky straight from the cask and explore three specially selected casks that highlight the breadth of Kilchoman flavour and the stories behind them. We’ve also created 100ml bottlings from each cask, available exclusively in our shop. Capacity is limited, so early booking is strongly recommended.

We’re also launching a brand‑new Sunday experience dedicated entirely to the production of our 100% Islay spirit. As a true farm distillery, we are responsible for every stage of the process; from barley seed to bottled whisky. We wanted to offer a deeper look at the elements that matter most to us: our barley, our farm, and our spirit.

This two‑hour experience explores the history of Kilchoman and our barley‑to‑bottle ethos. With space for just ten guests, availability is limited. You can check dates and book at: https://www.kilchomandistillery.com/book-distillery-tour/

As we step into this new season, we’re excited for everything the months ahead will bring and look forward to welcoming you to Kilchoman soon.
