High Scores for Kilchoman in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible

December 22, 2015

The guys in the Still house have done it again!  We thought the IWSC awards might be the last of the year and while that strictly speaking is still the case, Anthony, John, Robin and the team can be very happy with the Kilchoman scores in Jim Murray’s 2016 Whisky Bible.

A full list of the results are below.  It is very satisfying to think that the Kilchoman range as a whole avergaes over 94 points putting it in the category of “Superstar whiskies that give us all a reason to live”

A 3 year old whisky (Port Cask Matured) scoring 96 points should spark a bit of debate…

96.   – Port Cask Matured
96.   – Master of Malt Octave Single Cask
95.5 – 100% 5th edition
95.5 – 2007 vintage
95.5 – Single Bourbon Cask 473/2008
94.5 – Machir Bay
93.5 – 2006 vintage
93.   – Machir Bay 2012
92.5 – Loch Gorm 2013
92.   – Machir Bay 2014
90.5 – Machir Bay 2013

98-100 Better than anything I’ve ever tasted!
94-97 Superstar whiskies that give us all a reason to live
90-93 Brilliant
85-89 Very good to excellent whiskies definitely worth buying
80-84 Good whisky worth trying
75-79 Average and usually pleasant though sometimes flawed
70-74 Usually drinkable but don’t expect the earth to move
65-69 Very unimpressive indeed
51-64 Nasty and well worth avoiding
0-50 Nothing short of absolutely diabolical
