New Conisby warehouse is complete… we just need to fill it now!!

We finally finished the construction of the new Conisby warehouse at the beginning of October and have been juggling moving casks with increased production and bottling. Nonetheless we have made good progress and have now moved approximately 3,000 casks into the Conisby warehouse. Casks will be stored using the traditional dunnage warehousing method widely accepted to be the best for balanced and even maturation. When full the warehouse will hold over 10,000 casks. We look forward to showing Kilchoman fans around soon!

Last year saw our very first Club release.. Now we are excited to announce that the second annual Kilchoman Club bottling will be released on the 4th of November!!

8 fresh Bourbon Barrels have been carefully chosen by Anthony Wills and John MacLellan from an October 2008 filling which are currently being finished in Oloroso Butts. This will be bottled at cask strength and we are expecting a total of approximately 2,000 bottles from these casks.

This will be available exclusively to Kilchoman Club members at midday (12:00 GMT) on the 4th of November from the website at £75.00 with a limit of 1 bottle per person.

Each of our general releases entered into the IWSC this year were awarded medals. Loch Gorm took a gold while Machir Bay 2013 won silver and 100% Islay 2nd Edition bronze. It is great to receive these awards and well done to all the team for their efforts!

We are very excited to announce the upcoming release of our 100% Islay 3rd Edition. This is the latest edition of the 100% Islay range which is produced from barley grown, malted, distilled and bottled at the distillery. This release has had a longer maturation compared to the 2nd Edition and is a vatting of four and five year old fresh bourbon barrels. Only 10,000 bottles of this limited edition will be available worldwide.

With a delicate and floral nose of soft fruits and pear drops, 100% Islay goes on with peat smoke in the mouth, complimented by a long, sweet and lingering finish that blends with the softer tones of peat smoke.

The 100% Islay 3rd Edition will be available on Monday 15th July! RRP £59.95

The annual Islay Beach Rugby tournament took place last weekend at Port Ellen. It was a fantastic day with lots of good rugby played and lots of burnt faces on what was a hot sunny day!

Congratulations to all the team for winning the plate competition! We will be back next year to get our title back..

The Governor of the Bank of England, Sir Mervyn King, visited Islay on his farewell tour before retiring and met with a number of distillery representatives, including Anthony Wills (4th from left), at Ardbeg for lunch and tasting.

‘We really enjoyed our tour with John at the distillery during the Feis week. I’ve met him a couple of times previously but it was really good to see him in his home distillery and to see his enthusiasm as he showed us around. It was our favourite tour of the week.’

The distillery is now back into it’s normal routine after the Feis Ile! The bottling hall is at full throttle and the malt is germinating on the malt floor again..

On the 30th of May was our big day and it was a great success with the Islay weather shining on us! The bar kept everyone refreshed throughout the day along with a bbq, band, tastings and food pairings.

The Feis Ile bottling was certainly popular this year with the queue (below) extending out to the still house.
