Bottling

Bottling will take place during 2011 from selected fresh and refill bourbon casks at 46%vol without chill-filtration or added colour.

Style of Malt

A typical Islay style with peating levels of 50ppm of phenols. The 'new spirit' has been well received by experts and enthusiasts world wide, and below is whisky consultant Jim Swan's tasting note of our one year old spirit.

'On nosing, the initial impact is a strong but not overpowering peaty aroma. The peatiness is reminiscent of both peat smoke and seaside aromas. This is quickly followed by an intense fruity complexity that is unusually strong in the presence of the peaty character and is very attractive. Gradually the complexity releases flavours of pear drops and rich fruit. Fruity character gives way to a butterscotch aroma that seems to be a unique feature of Kilchoman.

On the palate, the same characteristics are present and combined with a strength of sweetness that is highly unusual in a young or new-make spirit. Normally there is a degree of bitterness of the yet to be removed feinty character that is absent in Kilchoman.'

Conditions of Sale
  • Price - £165.00 per case (6 x 70cl bottles) lying at Kilchoman Distillery Under Bond. The price includes bottling and packaging, but does not include delivery, excise duty or VAT. Duty, VAT and delivery will be charged at the rate prevailing at the time of bottling. Exports can be arranged to most markets, at cost after payment of the relevant duties and taxes.
  • The offer/title is restricted to 1 case (6 bottles) per person/address. Once an order form and payment has been received, a receipt and Certificate of Ownership will be sent out.
  • Title of Kilchoman 5 year old Futures is not transferable.
  • Storage and insurance are included in the price for three months after the bottling date.
  • Before bottling takes place in 2011 customers will be contacted, requesting delivery details and payment of all charges where appropriate.
  • Cases will only be released once all charges have been settled in full.
  • Bank Transfers - Kilchoman Distillery cannot accept any bank charges or transfer fees when receiving payment.
