2009 barley May 4th 2009
This years barley.....optic and publican varieties were sown during the week of 13th of April. If the weather is fine during ripening it should be harvested at the beginning of September. We are able to malt 100 tonnes of barley at the distillery and the balance is bought from Port Ellen maltings

Spirit of the west May 20th 2009
The spirit of the west weekend which took place on the 16th - 17th of May was a great success, and has been talked about a major rival to whisky live in Glasgow.
All the west coast distilleries took a stand and showed various expressions of single malt.
We showed a pre-release sample of our 3 year old which will be available from the 9th of September 2009.

First bottle from the very first cask from Kilchoman May 25th 2009
The first 3 Year Old malt is now on view in the distillery visitor centre, this unique bottle is going to be auctioned on the 28th of May at 12.30pm.
The bottle and presentation has been exclusivley designed for the distillery. The box has been hand made by Howard Proctor, who is also a member of Kilchoman's production team, the watercolour which is featured on the label was painted by Nicola Wilks.
The distillery will accept telephone and email bids up until 12.00pm on the 28th of May. If you would like to place a bid then please contact info@kilchomandistillery.com or telephone - 01496850011.
The first bottle sells for £5400 May 29th 2009
During our open day on Thursday 28th 2009, our first bottle of single malt was sold for £5400 to Niels Ladefoged.( Pictured below)
This unique bottle is contained in a oak box, handmade by one of kilchoman's production team Howard Proctor and the watercolour featured on the label was painted by Nicola Wilks , a local artist from Otter Ferry (pictured below with Anthony Wills and Niels Ladefoged)
We are happy that the amount raised will benifit local charities.
